Our regional library has nine branches and a bookmobile serving the counties of Isle of Wight, Southampton, Surry, and Sussex, as well as the City of Franklin servicing 1,600 square miles. We provide library materials and the latest technologies that we have available and our motivated staff members provide library service and programming throughout the area.

In accordance with Virginia law, Blackwater Regional Library is an at-will employer. This means that an employee may be terminated at any time, for any reason, or for no reason. Under this system, employees are free to voluntarily sever their employment at any time. Current Openings:

Youth Services Programmer (Courtland and Franklin branches) – $20,600.00 per year, Full-time

Blackwater Regional Library is currently seeking a full-time Youth Services Programmer.  This position is shared between the Courtland and Franklin branches and includes evening and Saturday hours.

Bookmobile Senior Library Assistant (Central Office, Courtland, VA) – $12.68 per hour, 22.5 hours per week

Part-time Senior Library Assistant for the Bookmobile based out of our Central office in Courtland, VA. Ability to lift and carry books and equipment (up to 100 pounds of force). Proof of a satisfactory driving record is required. Some evening and Saturday hours are required.

Library Assistant (Wakefield and Waverly branches) – $11.56 per hour, 8.25 hours per week

Part-time Library Assistant for the Wakefield and Waverly branches. This position is shared between Wakefield and Waverly and consist of Thursday and Friday morning hours.
