FirstGov: the Official Web Portal to the US Government
Different interfaces for different audiences (e.g., For Citizens, For Businesses and Nonprofits, for Federal Employees). This website also breaks out information by topic (e.g., Benefits and Grants, Consumer Protection, Education and Jobs, Public Safety, Environment, Energy and Agriculture).
The White House: Executive Branch
Look at the issues, news, speeches, and photos inside the White House. Daily press breifing are featured prominently on the homepage. There's even an "Ask the White House" forum where you can submit questions.
The Supreme Court: Judicial Branch
Learn about the history of our highest court, examine the docket, review oral arguments, or peruse landmark cases. Be sure to check out the quick link to "Recent Decisions" on the homepage.
The United States Congress: Legislative Branch
The Library of Congress offers links to both the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives from this easy-to-use website. The Senate's "Virtual Reference Desk" offers answers to large and small questions about its rules and innerworkings.

GPO: Government Publications
This is a link to the US Government Printing Office, which publishes everything for each branch of the government. You’ll find Congressional Bills, Presidential Public Papers, the US Government Manual, and even the 9-11 Commission Report. Be sure to checkout the A-Z Resource List, as it’s an easy way to see what’s available.
Ben's Guide: For Kids
A great way for kids, or adults, to learn about how our government works (e.g., how a Bill becomes a law, election process). The website offers games and activities, information for teachers, and links to other government websites for kids. Different interfaces for different grade levels allow you to point kids of all ages in the right direction.
Milestone Government Documents
View the actual documents that founded our nation! Be sure to use the zoom feature to magnify 100 milestone documents, including our Constitution, the Bill of Rights, President George Washington’s Farewell address, and even the check that purchased Alaska. Transcripts are available as well, so you don’t have to decipher old, illegible text. Looking at Lincoln’s handwriting, however, is very cool.

A great source for information about business abroad, traveling and living abroad, specific countries, and other international issues. Check out where each U.S. Embassy is located or if the area your traveling to is safe.
