Branch History:
The Carrollton Women's Club selected as one of their goals in 1980 the establishment of a Library in the Carrollton community. Through their efforts and the generosity of Senator Elmon Gray and Mr. Horace Gray, the original library building in Carisbrooke was contracted to the county of Isle of Wight, rent free for 15 years in 1983. On January 8, 1984 it opened its doors as the Carrollton branch of the Blackwater Regional Library. It was staffed by the volunteers from the Carrollton Women's Club and other interested citizens during its first six months of operation. Currently the library has a paid staff but continues to use volunteers. Announcements: 05/17/2012 - The Friends of the Carrollton Library will be holding a book sale from May 17-19. Find bargain books for all ages and support your Friends of the Library group! Donations of gently used books, audios, and DVDs are welcome now. No textbooks, encyclopedias, or Reader's Digest condensed books will be accepted.
05/31/2012 - Story hours will be ending for the summer on May 31st. 06/25/2012 - Carrollton Library's patron computers will be off until 1pm on the following Mondays (June 25, July 2, July 9, July 16, July 23, & July 30) due to programs for the Summer Reading Program.
Upcoming Events/Programs: 05/22/2012 - (Tue., 6-8pm) Green Cleaning - We welcome Beth Lanehart as she teaches us the benefits of using natural, non-toxic ingredients to clean our homes. Supplies will be provided to create your own bottle of cleaner to take home. Registration is required. 06/09/2012 - (Sat., 1-3pm) - Join the Teen Anime Club as we discuss our favorite manga books and make candy sushi! 06/13/2012 - (Wed., 2-3pm) - The Carrollton Book Club will be discussing A Bitter Truth by Charles Todd. See you there! 06/16/2012 - The Library is proud to announce the Carrollton Saturday Book Club for Adults - a 2nd adult book club for those who can't make it during the work week. Come out and discuss some exciting literature! June's selection is Lone Wolf by Jodi Picoult.
